Top seed Alcaraz upended by Lehecka in Qatar quarter-finals

The Czech won the last four games for victory and will now play No 8 seed Jack Draper for a place in the final

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz was upended 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 by Jiri Lehecka in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open on Thursday.

The Spaniard led 4-2 in the final set but Lehecka pulled together a string of games to reach the last four in Qatar for the second time.

The defeat ended Alcaraz’s seven-match winning streak, which included his run to the title in Rotterdam.

Lehecka, ranked No 25, will face No 8 seed Jack Draper next.

In the previous rounds of the Doha tournament, Jiri Lehecka won against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-4) and Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (6-4, 6-2).

Alcaraz, ranked No 3, defeated Croat Marin Cilic (6-4, 6-4) and Italian qualifier Luca Nardi (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
