Pole Katarzyna Kawa won against American Louisa Chirico 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the last eight of the Cancun Tennis Open on Wednesday.
Kawa, ranked No 241, will face the winner of the match between Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine and American qualifier Lauren Davis next.
The Pole beat Brazilian Laura Pigossi (4-6, 7-5, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Chirico, ranked No 175, won against Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the second seed (6-3, 6-4).
