Cluj-Napoca Open: Bronzetti defeats seventh seed Cocciaretto to make semi-finals

Lucia Bronzetti moved into the semi-finals of the Cluj-Napoca Open by defeating No 7 seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-1, 6-4 at the BT Arena on Friday evening.

Bronzetti, ranked No 72, will play No 5 seed Katerina Siniakova next.

Earlier in the tournament, Lucia Bronzetti won against Romanian wildcard Simona Halep (6-1, 6-1) and American Peyton Stearns, the No 3 seed (6-2, 7-6 (1)).

Cocciaretto, ranked No 60, won against Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (6-3, 7-5) and Romanian wildcard Ana Bogdan (6-3, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Cluj-Napoca tournament.
