Cluj-Napoca Open: Seidel reaches quarter-finals

German qualifier Ella Seidel beat Russian Anna Blinkova 6-2, 7-6 (5) to advance to the last eight of the Cluj-Napoca Open at the BT Arena on Thursday.

Seidel, ranked No 143, will face Russian Anastasia Potapova, the top seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old German won against Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-2).

Blinkova, ranked No 71, won against Spanish qualifier Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Cluj-Napoca tournament.
