Singapore Open: Mertens battles past Maria and into quarter-finals

Belgian Elise Mertens, the second seed, won against German Tatjana Maria 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Singapore Open at the Kallang Tennis Hub.

Mertens, ranked No 32, will play Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 6 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Singapore Open 2025, the Belgian defeated American Taylor Townsend (6-1, 6-0).

Maria, ranked No 73, beat Ukrainian Yuliia Starodubtseva (2-6, 6-1, 6-2) in the first round of the Singapore Open 2025.
