Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 7 seed, moved into the last eight of the Australian Open by beating No 24 seed Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (4) at Melbourne Park on Sunday.
Djokovic, ranked No 7, will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, next.
The 37-year-old Serb won against American wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2), Portuguese qualifier Jaime Faria (6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-2) and No 26 seed Tomas Machac (6-1, 6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Lehecka, ranked No 29, defeated Australian wildcard Li Tu (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1)), Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-3, 3-1 ret.) and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (6-2, 6-3, 6-3).
