Alcaraz reaches Australian Open quarter-final: “One step closer” to career Grand Slam
The Spaniard knows he’s close to a monumental achievement but is not thinking about it too much quite yet

He won the US Open in 2022, he won Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024, and he won his first Roland-Garros in 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz is now into his second consecutive Australian Open quarter-final – but is not yet thinking too hard about the possibility of achieving a career Grand Slam at the age of 21.
“Obviously I’m one step closer,” said the Spaniard after his walkover win against Jack Draper. “But what I’ve learned in the previous Grand Slam that I’ve played is going day by day in a Grand Slam. Grand Slam could be so long if you’re thinking about what’s next or about thinking in the future.
“I just want to think about the present day by day, just trying to feeling as good as I can every day, respecting every round, every player. That’s it.
“I think that helps a lot to show your best tennis in every match, just thinking about the present and giving the hundred percent of yourself.”
