Australian Open: Shelton gets past Carreno Busta to book spot in third round
Ben Shelton edged out Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4 on Thursday night and will play Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 16 seed, in the next round

American Ben Shelton, the No 21 seed, edged out Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4 to reach the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
Shelton, ranked No 20, will play Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 16 seed, next.
The 22-year-old American won against Brandon Nakashima (7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025, Carreno Busta, ranked No 182, defeated Pole qualifier Kamil Majchrzak (6-4, 6-4, 6-3).
