ATP Adelaide: Lucky loser Hijikata moves into quarter-finals

Australian lucky loser Rinky Hijikata advanced to the last eight of the Adelaide International by edging out American Brandon Nakashima, the No 7 seed, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5) at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Hijikata, ranked No 79, will play the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul, the top seed, and French lucky loser Manuel Guinard next.
In the previous round of the tournament, the Australian won against Belgian David Goffin (6-1, 6-2).
Nakashima, ranked No 37, defeated German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann (6-1, 2-6, 6-3) in the opening round of the tournament.
