Next Gen ATP Finals: Van Assche beats Basavareddy to qualify for semi-finals
The Frenchman will play Brail’s Joao Fonseca in the last four

France’s Luca van Assche secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah on Friday with a four-set win over Nishesh Basavareddy.
With both players coming into the match with a 1-1 record this week so far, the match was a virtual knockout for the semi-finals.
Van Assche came from a set down to beat Basavareddy 3-4, 4-3, 4-2, 4-2 and move into the last four.
This is the second consecutive year that the Frenchman has made it to the semi-finals of the event. If he is to go one better than last year, he will need to beat the red-hot Joao Fonseca, who qualified for the semi-finals on Thursday after winning his first two matches.
