“It’s as if (I will be) playing against both of them” – Alcaraz on Murray coaching Djokovic
The Spaniard has added a second coach to his own team ahead of the new season
World No 3 Carlos Alcaraz has shared his thoughts on the big tennis news in recent weeks – Novak Djokovic signing Andy Murray to be his new coach.
The tennis world has been reeling in surprise since the Serb made the announcement. Djokovic will play the Brisbane International in the first week of the new season. Murray is not expected to be with the Serb in Brisbane but is expected to be in Melbourne as Djokovic chases a record-braking 25th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
“It’s as if (I will be) playing against both of them. It’s going to be incredible for tennis,” Alcaraz said as quoted by Eurosport.
The Spaniard made the comments in New York where he defeated Ben Shelton in an exhibition match at Madison Square Garden earlier this week.
Alcaraz himself has added a second coach to his team – Samuel Lopez – who will work with main coach Juan Carlos Ferrero as the 2025 season gets underway.
