Hurkacz ropes in Lendl and Massu as coaches for 2025
The move comes after Hubert Hurkacz parted ways with his long-standing coach Craig Boynton in August 2024
Hubert Hurkacz, the world No 16 from Poland, has roped in Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu as coaches for the upcoming season. The move comes after Hurkacz parted ways with his long-standing coach Craig Boynton in August 2024.
The Pole announced Lendl and Massu’s arrival through a social media post on Friday, November 29.
“Having Nicolas Massu and Ivan Lendl as part of my team is an honor,” Hurkacz told ATP Tour. “Their knowledge and dedication inspire me to work harder than ever, and I’m ready to put in the hard work. I’m excited and optimistic for season 2025 and beyond.”
Lendl and Massu are certainly capable of guiding Hurkacz to a Grand Slam title, given their illustrious coaching careers thus far. Lendl, the eight-time Grand Slam champion from Czechia, coached Andy Murray to three Major titles, and Massu, the singles and doubles champion of the Athens Olympics (2004) from Chile, carries the experience of assisting Dominic Thiem to US Open glory in 2020.
“I’m very motivated and happy to begin this new chapter working with Hubi,” Massu said. “He is not only a great person but also a true professional. I’m excited to join his team and believe that together we can achieve great things. I’m also looking forward to starting the pre-season in Florida alongside Ivan.”
Hurkacz’s best result at the Slams has been a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2021.
