WTA Awards: Sabalenka, Swiatek nominated for ‘Player of the Year’; Osaka in contention for ‘Comeback of the Year’
The women’s tennis body will honour top athletes across five different categories
The WTA is set to honour the standout athletes of the 2024 calendar year at the season-ending WTA Awards. Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Pole Iga Swiatek are up against each other for the one last time in 2024 as they find themselves in contention for the ‘Player of the Year’ award.
Naomi Osaka, who returned to competitive tennis in January this year after a pregnancy break has been nominated for ‘Comeback Player of the Year’.
In total, the awards will be conferred upon players in five different categories, including Player of the Year, Doubles Team of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year.
