Australian qualifier Tina Nadine Smith reached the quarter-finals of the Cali Open by beating American Robin Montgomery, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday evening.
Smith, ranked No 322, will play the winner of the match between Leyre Romero Gormaz and qualifier Alicia Herrero Linana next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Australian won against Spaniard Aliona Bolsova (6-3, 6-3).
Montgomery, ranked No 109, won against Colombian wildcard Maria Paulina Perez Garcia (6-3, 6-0) in the previous round.
