Jiangxi Open: Sramkova wins for the 16th time in last 19 matches to reach semi-finals

Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the second seed, reached the semi-finals of the Jiangxi Open by defeating former Roland-Garros semi-finalist Martina Trevisan 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 on Friday.

This was the second win for Sramkova over Rus in as many matches on the tour, the first one coming way back in 2016.

The Slovak has been on a roll in recent weeks; this was her 16th win in her last 19 matches on the tour. That run includes reaching her first career final in Monastir, followed by winning her first WTA singles title in Thailand.

Sramkova, ranked No 53, will play the winner of the match between Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew and German Laura Siegemund next.

The Slovak won against Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang (6-1, 6-1) and Chinese Sijia Wei (7-5, 6-3) ahead of her win today.

In the previous rounds of the tournament, Trevisan, ranked No 136, beat Chinese wildcard Wushuang Zheng (6-1, 6-2) and Hungarian Anna Bondar (7-6 (4), 6-2).
