Hong Kong Open: Kenin moves into quarter-finals to face Yue
The American won against Jessika Ponchet 7-5, 6-4 in the second round on Thursday

Former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin moved into the last eight of the Hong Kong Open by defeating Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet 7-5, 6-4 at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay on Thursday.
Kenin, ranked No 88, will play Chinese Yuan Yue, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Hong Kong, the American, who reached the final in Tokyo last week, won against Japanese qualifier Mei Yamaguchi (6-4, 6-4). She has now won six of her last seven matches on the tour.
Ponchet, ranked No 106, beat Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) earlier in the week.
