Guangzhou Open: Top seed Siniakova moves into last four
The Czech will face the winner of the match between Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew and Serb Olga Danilovic for a place in the final
Top seed Katerina Siniakova won against American Bernarda Pera 6-4, 7-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Guangzhou Open at the Nansha International Tennis Center on Friday.
Siniakova, ranked No 48, will play the winner of the match between Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew and Serb Olga Danilovic next.
Ahead of her win today, the Czech, who is seeded No 1 at a WTA singles event for the first time in her career this week, beat Croat qualifier Petra Martic (6-2, 6-1) and American lucky loser Alycia Parks (6-1, 6-4).
Pera, ranked No 79, defeated Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala (6-0, 6-3) and Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang (6-2, 6-2) earlier in the week
