No 7 seed Robin Montgomery defeated fellow American Elizabeth Mandlik 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico on Monday.
Montgomery, ranked No 106, will play the winner of the match between Canadian qualifier Marina Stakusic and Ukrainian qualifier Anastasiya Sobolieva next.
