European Open: Giron continues excellent run into semi-finals
Marcos Giron defeated Zizou Bergs 6-2, 6-2 on Friday evening and will play No 5 seed Jiri Lehecka in the next round
American Marcos Giron, the No 8 seed, defeated Belgian Zizou Bergs 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last four of the European Open at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Friday evening.
Giron, ranked No 47, will face No 5 seed Jiri Lehecka next, who upset Stefanos Tsitsipas earlier in the day.
In the previous rounds of the Antwerp Open, the American won against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-4, 6-1) and Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)).
Bergs, ranked No 69, beat Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta (7-5, 6-4) and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
