Ningbo Open: Krejcikova through to quarter-finals, faces Andreeva next

Fourth seed Barbora Krejcikova reached the quarter-finals of the Ningbo Open by beating Chinese lucky loser YeXin Ma 7-6 (5), 6-3 at the Yinzhou Tennis Center on Thursday.

The Czech was confirmed as one of the qualifiers for the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh by virtue of being a Grand Slam winner this season and finishing the Race in the Top 20.

Krejcikova, ranked No 13, will face Russian Mirra Andreeva next. This will be the fourth meeting between the two with the 17-year-old leading the head-to-head by 2-1.

Ma, ranked No 261, won against qualifier Xiaodi You (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the tournament in what was her first WTA Tour main draw win.
