Stockholm Open: Stricker upsets Berrettini to reach quarter-finals

Swiss Dominic Stricker defeated Italian Matteo Berrettini 7-6 (6), 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open at the Kungliga Tennishallen.

Stricker, ranked No 317, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Quentin Halys and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 3 seed, next.

The 22-year-old Swiss edged out American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Stockholm tournament, Berrettini, ranked No 42, won against No 8 seed Luciano Darderi (6-4, 6-3).
