Almaty Open: Tabilo through to quarter-finals to face Diallo
The second seeded Chilean defeated Maximilian Marterer 6-2, 6-4 in the second round on Wednesday
Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo, the second seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Almaty Open by defeating German Maximilian Marterer 6-2, 6-4 at Almaty Arena on Wednesday.
Tabilo, ranked No 23, will play Canadian Gabriel Diallo next in what will be the Chilean’s ninth ATP Tour quarter-final. He becomes the first Chilean to win a match in this event.
Tabilo had received a bye in the first round while Marterer, ranked No 114, won against Bosnian Damir Dzumhur (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of the tournament. The German drops to 2-21 against top 30 players in his career.
