ATP rankings: Sinner extends lead, Machac hits career high

With the Shanghai Masters concluding on the weekend, the new ATP rankings see Jannik Sinner extend his lead at the top of the rankings this Monday, while Tomas Machac’s semi-final run lifts him to a new career high as well.

Sinner is now 4,800 points ahead of world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz after winning his seventh title of the season. 

Here’s how the ATP top 10 looks this Monday:

1. Jannik Sinner – 11,910 points
2. Carlos Alcaraz – 7,120 points
3. Alexander Zverev – 6,795 points
4. Novak Djokovic – 6,210 points
5. Daniil Medvedev – 5,330 points
6. Taylor Fritz – 4,415 points
7. Andrey Rublev – 4,110 points
8. Casper Ruud – 3,885 points
9. Alex de Minaur – 3,620 points
10. Grigor Dimitrov – 3,840 points

Other movements in the top 10 see Taylor Fritz bunny-hop Andrey Rublev off the back of the former’s Shanghai semi-final run. Hubert Hurkacz has taken the biggest hit though, falling out of the top 10 to No 12 in the world after not being able to defend his Shanghai title due to injury. Alex de Minaur also returns to the top 10, through no doing of his own though, as the Aussie was also injured last week.

Machac and Shang record milestones, Mensik close

Young Czech Tomas Machac leaps eight places to crack the world’s top 30 for the first time and reach a career high on No 25 in the world, thanks to his final four run in China. Nicolas Jarry’s poor Shanghai performance sees him fall out of the world’s top 30, however, with the Chilean dropping to No 34 and is in danger of not being seeded at the Australian Open.

Spain’s Pedro Martinez’s strong performance in the Valencia Challenger sees him work his way up the rankings, making a career high of No 38. Juncheng Shang also records a milestone, entering the world’s top 50 and making a career high of No 49.

Just behind him, young Jakub Mensik has drawn within reach of the top 50, with the Czech leaping 14 places to No 51 in the world after his week in Shanghai.
