Shanghai Masters: Humbert knocked out in third round

Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 16 seed, lost 7-6 (7), 2-6, 6-1 to compatriot Gael Monfils in the third round of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Tuesday.

Monfils, ranked No 46, will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament, Gael Monfils beat Bosnian Damir Dzumhur (6-4, 6-3) and edged out Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 22 seed (6-3, 4-6, 6-4).

Humbert, ranked No 15, defeated Arthur Cazaux (6-3, 6-2) in the previous round of the Shanghai tournament.
