UTS fever will take over the battleground of Les Arènes de Nîmes in April 2025 as the innovative and fast-paced competition is set to premiere in front of the French public. The Bastide Medical UTS Nîmes will be played inside the Roman amphitheatre on clay in Nîmes from April 4-5.

UTS, the brainchild of renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, began in 2020 behind closed doors at his academy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, it has enthralled tennis fans across the globe with visits to the United States (Los Angeles and New York), Germany, Belgium, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

It’s now time for Mouratoglou’s creation to come back to his home country.

“UTS is a competition that redefines the codes of tennis, to make the sport more intense and more immersive,” Mouratoglou said. “Les Arènes de Nîmes is a perfect venue for a competition of the intensity as UTS. People from Nîmes will attend a breathtaking show. We share the same vision as our partners.”

Ruud, rublev, Monfils, Humbert headline UTS Nimes

Casper Ruud, aka the Iceman, and Andrey Rublev, aka Rublo, are among the eight world-class tennis players set to fight for glory in Nîmes. Home heroes ‘La Monf’ Gael Monfils and ‘The Commander’ Ugo Humbert have also signed up for the $1 million event. Four more players will be named in due course.

In 2025, the UTS Tour will begin on the hard courts of Guadalajara, Mexico, running from February 14-16, with the iconic Les Arènes de Nîmes, built in the 1st century (BCE), scheduled as the second stop. The monument is no stranger to tennis action as it staged the historic France vs Australia Davis Cup quarter-final in 1991.

“Nîmes is renowned for its involvement in the organisation of world-renowned sporting events such as the Tour de France, the Vuelta and the International Archery Tournament,” said Jean-Paul Fournier, the Mayor of Nîmes. “This makes our city one of the world’s leading sports destinations.”

The Bastide Medical UTS Nîmes will be a knockout event, played over two days. The quarter-finals will be held on Friday, April 4, followed by the semi-finals and final on Saturday, April 5. The last man standing inside Les Arènes de Nîmes will be assured of a place in the 2025 UTS Grand Final.

Tickets for UTS Nîmes will go on sale on Friday 11 October at noon French time (11am BST).
