Australian Ajla Tomljanovic edged out Dane Clara Tauson, the No 6 seed, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to win the Hong Kong 125 Open tournament on Sunday night.
Tomljanovic, ranked No 107, defeated Canadian Marina Stakusic (6-4, 5-7, 6-0), Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse (7-5, 6-3), American McCartney Kessler, the No 5 seed (6-3, 0-0 ret.) and Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 7 seed (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Tauson, ranked No 72, beat Italian Martina Trevisan (6-3, 7-5), American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko (2-6, 6-3, 6-4), Japanese Nao Hibino (6-1, 6-1) and Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-3).
