Shanghai Masters: Sinner moves into third round with 250th tour-level win

Italian Jannik Sinner, the top seed, defeated Japanese Taro Daniel 6-1, 6-4 to move into the third round of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Saturday.

He is the first man born in the 2000s to record 250 tour-level wins, and this was his 60th match win this year – a tour-leading figure.

Sinner, ranked No 1, will play Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 31 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Shanghai tournament, Daniel, ranked No 93, edged out Belarusian qualifier Egor Gerasimov (6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4).
