Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild reached the second round of the Shanghai Masters by edging out qualifier Daniel Evans 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3) at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center.

Seyboth Wild, ranked No 87, will play No 5 seed Daniil Medvedev next.
