Kyrgios confident he’ll play at 2025 Australian Open
Kyrgios also hinted towards his retirement in a cryptic Instagram post
Nick Kyrgios has declared that he is confident he’ll be competing at the 2025 Australian Open in January.
The Australian shared the news on a recent Instagram live, where he said that he will be in action at the years’ first Grand Slam in Melbourne, and hopes to play several tournaments before then as well.
Kyrgios has not competed on the ATP Tour for close to two years, playing just the one match in 2023 and none so far this year. His only foray back into professional tennis was at UTS New York in August, where he defeated Casper Ruud before withdrawing from day two of the event.
Shortly after his Instagram live, where he discussed the future of his career with several different guests, the Australian shared a post that hinted towards his impending retirement.
“Tennis… damn… it’s been A CRAZY JOURNEY!!!!” he began. “It all started because of you. FOREVER GRATEFUL. I love all my FANS. There are only a few chapters left…”
Despite the announcement, Kyrgios is yet to confirm which events he will compete at ahead of the Australian Open, and whether or not any of those will be in 2024.
