American McCartney Kessler, the No 5 seed, won against wildcard Eudice Wong Chong 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Hong Kong 125 Open on Tuesday.
Kessler, ranked No 65, will play Thai Mananchaya Sawangkaew next.
