Korea Open: Haddad Maia beats Kasatkina to win title
Beatriz Haddad Maia won the tournament on Sunday night against Daria Kasatkina.
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 3 seed, won the Korea Open final by defeating Russian Daria Kasatkina, the top seed, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the Olympic Park Tennis Center in Seoul on Sunday.
This was the first title of the 2024 season for the Brazilian and the fourth of her career and she had to come from a set and a break down in the second to win it.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 17, beat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (6-3, 6-4), Russian lucky loser Polina Kudermetova (6-2, 6-1) and Russian Veronika Kudermetova (6-4, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Kasatkina, ranked No 13, beat American Hailey Baptiste (6-4, 6-2), Emma Raducanu (6-1 ret.) and No 4 seed Diana Shnaider (6-3, 6-4).
