Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the top seed, won against Portuguese Francisca Jorge 6-1, 6-3 to reach the last 8 of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Wednesday evening.
Carle, ranked No 81, will face Liechtensteiner Kathinka von Deichmann next.
The Argentinian edged out Romanian wildcard Maria Sara Popa (6-4, 3-6, 7-5) in the previous round.
In the 32, Jorge, ranked No 203, beat Romanian wildcard Ilinca Amariei (7-6 (7), 6-3).
