Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 5 seed, won against Frenchwoman Diane Parry 6-3, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Cleveland Open at Jacobs Pavilion on Monday.
Potapova, ranked No 44, will face the winner of the match between Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Dane Clara Tauson next.
