Barranquilla Open: Podoroska wins the trophy
Nadia Podoroska won the final on Saturday night against Tatjana Maria.
Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 4 seed, won the Barranquilla Open final by beating German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 on Saturday night.
Podoroska, ranked No 88, defeated Chinese Xiaodi You (6-2, 6-2), Chinese Xinyu Gao (6-1, 2-0 ret.), Georgian Mariam Bolkvadze (6-4, 6-3) and Ukrainian Anastasiya Sobolieva (6-1, 1-6, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Maria, ranked No 71, defeated Colombian wildcard Maria Herazo Gonzalez (6-0, 6-1), American Elizabeth Mandlik (6-4, 4-6, 6-3), Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens, the No 6 seed (7-5, 7-5) and Croat Antonia Ruzic (W/O).
