Western & Southern Open: Pavlyuchenkova moves into quarter-finals
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beat Qinwen Zheng 7-5, 6-1 on Saturday night and will play Spaniard Paula Badosa in the next round
Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won against Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 7 seed, 7-5, 6-1 to move into the last 8 of the Western & Southern Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati on Saturday night.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 28, will play Spaniard Paula Badosa next.
Ahead of her victory, the 33-year-old Russian defeated Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 17 seed (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki (7-5, 6-4).
Zheng, ranked No 7, won against Pole qualifier Magdalena Frech (6-1, 7-5) in the previous round of the Cincy Open.
