Western & Southern Open: Andreescu knocked out by Avanesyan in first round
Avanesyan will face No 8 seed Jelena Ostapenko in the next round

Canadian wildcard Bianca Andreescu was defeated by Armenian Elina Avanesyan 6-4, 7-5 in the first round of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Avanesyan, who played for Russia earlier, last week announced that she would represent Armenia going forward. Her win on Tuesday was the first for an Armenian woman in a WTA Tour main draw.
Avanesyan, ranked No 60, will face No 8 seed Jelena Ostapenko next at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
