WTA Toronto: Samsonova breezes into round three
Liudmila Samsonova cruised through against Moyuka Uchijima 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday. She’ll face Belgian Elise Mertens in the next round

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 6 seed, beat Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the WTA National Bank Open on Thursday.
Samsonova, ranked No 13, will face Belgian Elise Mertens next.
Uchijima, ranked No 63, won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (7-6 (4), 6-2) in the previous round of the Rogers Cup.
