Korda races past Thompson into Citi Open semi-finals

American Sebastian Korda, the No 4 seed, won against Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the Citi Open at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Friday night.
Korda, ranked No 22, will face the winner of the match between Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed, and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 5 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the American beat Chilean Cristian Garin (6-3, 6-2) and Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-7 (1), 7-5, 3-2 ret.).
Thompson, ranked No 33, defeated American wildcard Reilly Opelka (6-4, 6-3) and Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the No 9 seed (7-5, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Washington D.C. tournament.
