Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 4 seed, edged out Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club on Tuesday evening.
Parry, ranked No 58, will play Swiss qualifier Jil Teichmann next.
