Frenchman Hugo Gaston edged out Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Hamburg Open at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center.
Gaston, ranked No 81, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, and Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong next.
