Alert: Krejcikova upsets former champ Rybakina to reach Wimbledon final
Barbora Krejcikova edged out Elena Rybakina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday evening and will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 7 seed, for the title
No 31 seed Barbora Krejcikova moved into the final of Wimbledon by edging out Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Thursday evening.
Krejcikova, ranked No 32, will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her w,in today Krejcikova beat Russian Veronika Kudermetova (7-6 (4), 6-7 (1), 7-5), American qualifier Katie Volynets (7-6 (6), 7-6 (5)), Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-0, 4-3 ret.), American Danielle Collins, the No 11 seed (7-5, 6-3) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 13 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)).
Rybakina, ranked No 4, won against Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse (6-3, 6-1), German Laura Siegemund (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki (6-0, 6-1), Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 17 seed (6-3, 3-0 ret.) and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 21 seed (6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
