Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic edged out Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) to move into the quarter-finals of the Grand Est Open 88 on Thursday.
Jakupovic, ranked No 212, will face Frenchwoman Selena Janicijevic next.
In the previous round, the 33-year-old Slovenian defeated Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric, the No 9 seed (6-1, 6-3).
Romero Gormaz, ranked No 183, won against French wildcard Audrey Albie (7-5, 5-7, 6-3) in the first round.
