Playing final Wimbledon, Danielle Collins beats Haddad Maia to reach round of 16 for the first time

American Danielle Collins, the No 11 seed, won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 20 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Londres on Saturday evening.

Collins, ranked No 11, will play No 31 seed Barbora Krejcikova next.

The American, who announced plans to retire at the end of the season, is playing in her final Wimbledon. She is into the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time.

The American defeated Dane Clara Tauson (6-3, 7-6 (4)) and Hungarian qualifier Dalma Galfi (6-3, 6-4) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds of The Championships, Haddad Maia, ranked No 20, beat Pole Magdalena Frech (7-5, 6-3) and Colombian Camila Osorio (3-0 ret.).
