ATP/WTA Rankings: Sinner the leading man at Wimbledon as Wozniacki surges

Top 10 remain unchanged across both tours, with big moves coming from further down the rankings ahead of Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner heads into a Grand Slam as top seed and world No 1 for the first time in his career.

He will be the leading man at Wimbledon, with Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz not far behind him in second and third respectively.

After the final round of warm-up tournaments in the week before the grass-court major, there was no change in the top 10, but plenty of promising moves for players in the top 30.

Following his title run at Eastbourne, Taylor Fritz has leapfrogged his compatriot Tommy Paul, rising from No 13 to No 12, and becoming the American No 1 once again. Last week, Paul had overtaken Fritz after to winning Queen’s. But this week, the Californian has reasserted his dominance at the summit of the US men’s rankings.

A little further down the ladder and Alejandro Tabilo‘s wonderful breakthrough season has been rewarded with a first appearance inside the top 20. He has jumped five places to No 19 in the world having clinched his second title of the year in Mallorca over the weekend.

Jack Draper, the new British No 1 heading in his home Grand Slam, has risen another place to No 28 as his trajectory continues to move upwards. It is another career-best ranking for the Briton, who had already earned himself a career-first seeding at this year’s Championships.

Meanwhile, Alex Michelson continues his quiet rise, surging another five places after earning a quarter-final berth at the Mallorca Open.

swiatek uncatchable, but plenty of movement further down the wta rankings

Iga Swiatek maintains an iron-clad grip on the summit of the women’s game. She currently has an unassailable lead of well over 3000 points, meaning she cannot be overhauled at this year’s Wimbledon. Second-placed Coco Gauff can certainly narrow the gap with a strong run at SW19, having been knocked out in the first round last season. But the Pole is guaranteed to remain on top of the pile in a fortnight’s time, regardless of what happens at Wimbledon.

Daria Kasatkina, meanwhile, continues to close in on a return to the top 10. After winning her first title of the season in Eastbourne over the weekend, the Russian has risen another two places into 12th place. A strong run at the Championships could well see her break back into the world’s elite, especially if world No 10 Ons Jabeur fails to make the second week.

Caroline Wozniacki, continuing her comeback from a three-year absence from the sport, has made arguably the most significant move this week. The Dane surges 21 places to crack the top 100 once again, rising from 112th to No 91 in the world after an impressive showing in Bad Homburg, where took out world No 21 Elina Svitolina en route to the quarter-finals.

Other notable rises saw Paula Badosa also break back into the top 100, moving 20 places higher to reach No 93.

Emma Raducanu continues her resurgence with a fine grass-court swing so far, rising 33 places from No 169 to No 135, while Donna Vekic was rewarded for her run to the final of Bad Homburg with a rise of twelve places from No 49 to No 37.

While there was no movement inside the top 10 across either tour, Wimbledon looks set to shake up the rankings considerably should seed largely fulfil their projected finishes.
