Queen’s: Korda books spot in last four
Sebastian Korda edged out Rinky Hijikata 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 on Friday evening and will face American Tommy Paul, the No 5 seed, in the next round
American Sebastian Korda reached the semi-finals of the cinch Championships after he edged out Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 at Queen’s Club in London on Friday evening.
Korda, ranked No 23, will play American Tommy Paul, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the American beat Russian Karen Khachanov (7-5, 7-6 (5)) and edged out Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 3 seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-5).
Hijikata, ranked No 98, benefitted from the abandonment of American Frances Tiafoe (7-5, 4-6, 1-0) and won against Italian Matteo Arnaldi (7-6, 7-6 (7)) earlier in the tournament.
