Croat Petra Martic, the No 5 seed, edged out Australian qualifier Maya Joint 6-4, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3) to advance to the last 4 of the Makarska Open on Friday evening.
Martic, ranked No 81, will face Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 33-year-old Croat beat wildcard Petra Marcinko (6-4, 6-4) and Lea Boskovic (7-6 (6), 6-4).
Joint, ranked No 192, won against Croat Antonia Ruzic (6-1, 6-1) and Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 3 seed (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds.
