Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 9 seed, reached the last 8 of the Open delle Puglie by beating Ipek Oz 7-5, 7-6 (2) on Wednesday evening.
Zidansek, ranked No 131, will face the winner of the match between Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 5 seed, and American Ann Li next.
In the previous round, the Slovenian won against Italian wildcard Daria Raimondo (6-0, 6-0).
Oz, ranked No 197, won against Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva (6-2, 6-1) in the 32.
