Rabat Open: Sherif saunters into quarter-finals
Mayar Sherif defeated Maria Lourdes Carle in easy straight sets on Wednesday in Rabat. Sherif now sets her sights on Sara Sorribes Tormo in the quarters.

Mayar Sherif moved into the last eight of the Rabat Open by defeating Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle 6-3, 6-2 at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc on Wednesday afternoon.
Next up for Sherif, ranked No 66, is third-seeded Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo.
The Egyptian eased past Moroccan wildcard Aya El Aouni (6-2, 6-1) ahead of Wednesday’s victory.
In the previous round of the Rabat tournament, Carle — ranked No 83 — knocked off Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-3).
