Rabat Open: Stearns makes quarter-finals
Peyton Stearns beat Xiyu Wang 6-3, 6-1 on Wednesday and will play No 4 seed Lucia Bronzetti in the next round
American Peyton Stearns won against Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to move into the last 8 of the Rabat Open at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc on Wednesday.
Stearns, ranked No 81, will play No 4 seed Lucia Bronzetti next.
In the previous round of the Rabat tournament, the 22-year-old American defeated Serb qualifier Aleksandra Krunic (5-7, 6-2, 6-1).
Wang, ranked No 62, beat Italian qualifier Nuria Brancaccio (7-6 (5), 7-5) in the previous round of the Rabat tournament.
