Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse reached the last eight of the Trophée Clarins by beating French wildcard Kristina Mladenovic 6-1, 6-0 on Thursday.
Ruse, ranked No 148, will face the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki and Frenchwoman Alize Cornet next.
Ahead of her win today, the Romanian defeated Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 5 seed (0-6, 6-1, 6-1).
Mladenovic, ranked No 220, beat Japanese Nao Hibino (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
